Years ago, when i owned a H&R, the cheapest i could find was north of $50. That was for Hornady flex tip lever revolution. Worst ammo for Marlin GG, as its 1/10" shorter than standard and has a reputation for jamming.
I buy in bulk on hollidays, also my dark secret ( but refuse to buy from them again) is on occasion Epps will get a gun and ammo traded in and they will sell the ammo at a “used” price. Still have about 200 rounds of 405g cast 45-70 that they sold for $25 a box of 20

I've never heard of anyone I know having any jamming issues with the shorter brass Hornady ammo,I've had so many guide guns and Sbl Marlins I've lost count ,and each one shot and cycled hornady lever ammo without a flaw.Im talking hundreds of rounds just through my own guns.never saw a single jam even in my worst remlin .
Mine is a JM Marlin blued guide gun with factory porting. Probably coming on 20 years old. My lever gun became a single shot. Luckily i dont give warningshots, the bear ran the other way.
So now you have heard of hornady lever revolution causing jams.
