It would be fine, if it fits and is what you want.
It's a field gun (as opposed to a sporting clays gun) and they weight around 7 lbs which is fairly light for a gun you may want to put several hundred rounds per day through. The cumulative effect of the recoil even with light loads takes it's toll after a while, it's ok if your only shooting 50 or a hundred rounds at a time though.
There's a used 28 inch Beretta 682 on the EE that I saw this morning for $1600, might be worth a look if you want a high quality sporting gun with 28 inch barrels. Disclaimer though, I don't know the seller or the gun.
