So I'm looking at getting a single semi auto shot gun for multiple roles. Looking for something that I can use for turkey / waterfowl, and also buy a rifled cantilever barrel to use on the odd deer hunt in a shotgun only area.

I'm leaning towards the Mossberg 935. Price is right and I can get it with a 24 or 28 in barrel and then buy a rifled cantilever barrel.

Any other suggestions?

The 935 does not work with 2-3/4 target shells. Well it does but it's a bolt action gun half the time. So if you ever plan to do some cheap practice at the range, I'd suggest to get a Versamax instead in that general price range.

Not overly concerned about target loads.

Can you get a cantilever barrel for the versamax? looking around quickly and can't seem to find one.

I'd stay away from mossbergs. Personally, the Remington 1100 is my go to shotgun for whatever you want it to be.

Great at skeet, waterfowl, turkey and even big game.

1 barrel, with a few chokes and you're set. Price is really good too. It can be had for around 500-600$ On the EE

I can attest to the reliability and performance of the 935. I've used my 935 as my primary waterfowl and turkey gun since 2007. My gun can also reliably cycle 2 3/4" target loads. The overbored 10g barrel throws phenominal patterns with both lead and steel shot. My 28" waterfowl barrel and 24" turkey barrel are both overbored to 10g dimensions. My 24" cantilever rifled barrel is not overbored. Whats really nice is that the 935 comes with stock adjustment shims which allow you to customize fit. There is also aftermarket support for parts as many components are shared with the 930. I purchased a choate pistol grip stock for my turkey setup. I'd highly recommend the Mossberg 935 and many deals can be found on the used market. If you do buy used, try to buy one made after 2007 as the previous models had a two piece gas piston, and these guns were known to have issues cycling target loads. You'll be pleased with the purchase
