good first AR

ok guys im sorry for this but i searched and cant come up with anything. what im looking for is basically a stevens 200 of the AR world somthing i can shoot and build upon as funds and time alows i dont need anything really fancy yet what would you recommend

And the answer is the Norinco M4 'knock off'.
Less than a $1000 new and the revues on them have been very positive.
If you keep an eye on the EE ( Economic Exchange) here, you should be able to pick a minty used one for less.

The newest Norc M4's showing up this spring are going to be in the $699 range....nothing domestic comes close. However, if you take the time to learn and shop around, you can build one up from decent parts for around $1000. Off the rack domestic, you're looking at at least $14-1500 for a starter AR15.

If you dont want to buy a Norc, look at stag. Most reasonable prices for a good product.

The Stags from Arms East are decent. You can build a an AR for under a grand if you got time to pick up pieces from the ee.
Building an AR is easier then changing a tire.
Questar and Arms East seem to be the only options. ...and shipping takes for ever for us West Coasters. There should be a Arms West.
The Norcs are just wrong.wrong. wrong. Eugene Stoner invented the AR to shoot the CENSORED. How ironic is that.
