Good glass for .30-06?

Sry this thread has probably been posted but the search is giving me a headache. What would be a good scope for my M77 .30-06? I will be doing some hunting but I also want to have some long range fun at the shooting range. I think the longest range we have so far is 300yd. I would like to stretch her legs out and see 500+ yards. Ballistics and realistics what magnification and diameter scope should I eventually acquire? I'm liking Leupold scopes so far..

I like the Burris Fullfield II. Don't settle for cheap $hit like Tasco, or low end Bushnells. Good glass can make all the difference.

I have your exact set up and have a 'leupold' 3-9 'rifleman seems to do the trick just fine.......

I echo the reply in #2, dont skimp on quality (price) that 140.00 dollars you saved is gonna kick you in the nuts when you go from inside the cab of your truck to minus 17 and your scope fogs up......
