Good gunsmith in Ontario?

A nice LR rifle could be anything from an unaltered heavy barrelled Savage with a Bushnell 10x40 to a full blown custom based on a precision action with all selected components. So, cost could range from $800 to $5 or 6 000. Approximately how much are you looking to spend? Keith Cunningham at MilCun, or Jason Spencer at Gunco could certainly put one together for you. Keith specializes in this sort of rifle. Have a look at Ian Robertson's website, 3w.robertsoncomposites.com, for some ideas.

Well to use the .22/250 you will have to open the bolt face to a .308 size. I would get a fast twist .22 barrel 1/8 to use the heavy 80 gr bullets, of course you can still use the lighter ones. You may have to keep the velocity down on the fragile blitz types though.

Rob MacLennan is an excellent choice. He also manufacturers (amoung other things) button rifled barrels.
I had a 260 Rem target\varmint rifle built about this time last year and it was easier than I expected
Rob MacLennan made the barrel for mine (28", 1/8 twist, aprox 7 lbs), short chambered it so I could reach the rifling and still feed from a magazine, cleaned up the lugs and mating surface of the bolt to the barrel, and installed the barrel.
Ian Roberston made the stock for mine and got me my bipod. To give you an idea as to how higly I think of my stock, he is making a stock for my muzzleloader as we speak. Ian also helps me keep her fed by bringing in my reloading components fairly cheap.
Jason Spencer did the trigger work on it; as per usual I am very happy with the work.
Joe ##### (### International) supplied me with my scope, rings, both sets of bases, and the adjustment knobs for my bipod.
In the end I have a rifle that will shoot 1/2 MOA easily at 300 yards (as far as I shot) if I do my part. I have shot a 3 shot group a little less than 1/2" at 200 yards with it, but I screwed up the next two shots and opened it up to an inch.
