I am looking for a good gunsmith to blue print a M700 long action for me. I have heard of a guy in Cranbrook, B.C., but don't know what he is like. I live near Vernon, B.C. and although we have a so called gunsmith(butcher), I have seen his work and no thanks. I would prefer to find a smith within driving distance, like 8hrs one way for example, so I could drop off and pick up my action in person.

I would appreciate any info, but would prefer if you could actually speak from personal dealings with him.

Thank-you in advance!

Is Vernon anywhere near Kamloops?
Paul Reibin, Rangesports Unlimted works with Mick Mcphee.

Bill Leeper

Bill Leeper lives in the back of beyond behind Cranbrook,
Ive been to see him several times and he has never been there. I believe he is an older retired guy that does gunsmithing as a hobby.
Take a 22 with you as the fields adjacent to his cabin are awash with Gophers and the owner likes to have them thinned down.

Thanks for the replies all. I will get a hold of the guys you listed.

Two months ago, if I would have needed a good smith, it would have been a no brainer. Al Forslund in Cherryville, B.C., but he passed away in November long before he should have. Some of you may have heard of him as he used to travel to benchrest competions in B.C., Alberta and even into the states.
