Good hunting bullet for 6.5X55?

I've shot deer with 129 and 140gr sst's. 129 up close hitting bone is messy but drop deer hard, 140's far away pass through and do ok, only one deer each though.
140gr R.E.M. Corelokt did about perfect and barely exited on a mulie at 35 yards. 140 gr partition bored a solid hole right through, hitting some bones and dropped the deer hard. I've got 120gr ttsx loaded up now at 2850fps and I'm trying for a deer or black bear to try them out.

I would have shot my whitetail last year with a 120 ttsx, but I won a .243 in a raffle so I wanted to use that last fall. I went with what I knew and loaded up 85gr partitions, chronied at 3050fps and it worked fantastic. One shot, not varmint bullet looking damage, but a good cored hole through the deer and dropped like a rock.

I'd say pretty dependable bullets.

I have 2 full boxes of 140gr Barnes x bullets and another box of 120gr ttsx in my reloading room. I always wondered about those x bullets. I know they are older and still have $40 price tags on them.

the best bullet I have ever saw for the 6.5x55 was the 140 grain barnes x bullet . it was the same length as the original 160 grain bullet and could be easily seated out into the rifling on rifles with long throats .

they haven't made them for a few years .

next best thing would be their 130 grain offerings .

there was a huge thread on 6.5 bullets by either stevebc or bcsteve .... last time I checked the thread was stickied .

I also have had good success with 140 grain hornady interlock boatails . what I have is at least 2 decades old so I can't speak about the quality of the new stuff from hornady .

I am also really impressed with noslers accubond in other calibers ...... I would definitely give them a try too .

hey a Woodleigh Weldcore 140gr would hold up well even on Big game with the velocity of the Swede! not sure of your supply but worth a try for sure!
they do a 160, but I'm assuming the 6.5 is like my 708 when it comes to 160gr an taking up cartridge / powder space thus givin a better result for brush hunting an not a overall best weight .
