Hi fellas I like to use a sling for treks to the farther watch's up at the camp. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for durable but more importantly , light ,quality slings.
thanks

Myself, I've pretty much given up on slings, although on occassion I do use a carry strap for hunting.
I walk in too much thick stuff. I have enough trouble just keeping my hat on my head, without a sling hanging up.

One of the guys at moose camp has a really nice setup he uses that might interest you. It allows the rifle to be slung in front of him, and easily alows him to swing his gun up to the shooting position.
Unfortunately, I don't know the name, perhaps someone will chime in here.

Here is what I use - the Safari Sling. I bought it from Cabelas, many years ago - $19.99 US.

It works for me.

I use one much the same as the Safari sling, it is a military issue sling. I also use a Browning backpack sling when I am out on my snowshoes. It frees up my hands, and makes long carrys comfy. It can also be used as a normal sling, and even shortens up tight to the rifle.

the Butler Creek nylon job with the wider padded shoulder area is very good...ensure it has a non-slip surface on the shoulder pad and try to find some of those little rubber snubbers that mount on the swivels to keep them quiet... they work well well...

I also find the Boonie packer/Safari the best and most versatile hunting sling. I've been using mine for years, I like it because you're always at the ready, and handsfree for glassing. I have the other regular slings including B/C neoprene and haven't used them since I bought the Boonie packer/Safari.
