Good modern target rifle in 22 LR under 1000$

I recently bought a new tikka t1x for $750, I’m quite over 1k with my choice of scope but I can’t say enough good things about the gun. CZ 455/457 I’ve heard good things about to for under that price. Also if you want a target rifle remember to buy some different varieties of target ammo and find what it likes. Buy a used one and if you don’t like it sell it for what you paid is also an option to try different options.

And, what sort of target shooting? Any particular discipline? Or do you just want an accurate rifle to enjoy at the range?

Get a mossberg 46 or 146. Excellent open sights. Lead lapped barrels. Adjustable trigger. I bet modern guns cant shoot a lick better. Scope mounts are available also if you are visually sucky.

How far out do you want to shoot? If 100 yards or under many rifle choices. If you want to shoot out to say 400 yards that will narrow the field. You want a gun that you can mount a scope on, so you will need 60 MOA setup to adjust you scope to shoot out that far. This will be for the weaver/picitanny rail and rings, and the Burris XTR Signature rings in 1”, 30 or 34mm scope tube size and MRAD (mils) setup. A larger objective on scope of 50 or 56mm and 30 or 34mm tube size will get you out to 400 yards and beyond. A good starter scope that fits the bill is the Vortex Venom 5-25x56 for $700 gives you what you want to reach out there. You may want to go to a local precision shooting event or if you club has some guys shooting precision, find out if they will let you try a few different rifles and setups. That was how I got involved with the local chapter. And Strelok is a $15 app that lets you input all your data - rifle, scope, bullet information to then calculate what elevation you need to turn your scope up to to reach out and touch your targets. There is a free version you can download to your smartphone and check it out.

I must warn you though, it is addictive and a whole lot of fun.
