How far out do you want to shoot? If 100 yards or under many rifle choices. If you want to shoot out to say 400 yards that will narrow the field. You want a gun that you can mount a scope on, so you will need 60 MOA setup to adjust you scope to shoot out that far. This will be for the weaver/picitanny rail and rings, and the Burris XTR Signature rings in 1”, 30 or 34mm scope tube size and MRAD (mils) setup. A larger objective on scope of 50 or 56mm and 30 or 34mm tube size will get you out to 400 yards and beyond. A good starter scope that fits the bill is the Vortex Venom 5-25x56 for $700 gives you what you want to reach out there. You may want to go to a local precision shooting event or if you club has some guys shooting precision, find out if they will let you try a few different rifles and setups. That was how I got involved with the local chapter. And Strelok is a $15 app that lets you input all your data - rifle, scope, bullet information to then calculate what elevation you need to turn your scope up to to reach out and touch your targets. There is a free version you can download to your smartphone and check it out.
I must warn you though, it is addictive and a whole lot of fun.
