why try to make a .303 a .308?

just buy a .308.

hot loads are hard on the rifle, the brass, and occasionally, the shooter :S

The 303 is already a 308, just at lower pressures.

On reading this thread...

I find my .303 is well prepared for any game 'UP' to moose, grizzly, elk but I was wondering what is the smallest game I should consider hunting with it, as I don't want to vaporize the animal. But rather eat it/pelt it.

If you reload, anything. An FMJ meant for .32 ACP loaded light would be easy on pelts. As for factory fodder, 150gr is about as light as they get and it's still pretty destructive on anything smaller than deer

A brief reminder - fmj is illegal for hunting in some provinces. I don't know about alberta, but bc for sure.
