Hello everyone. Looking for a good source on 22 WMR. My Walmart/CT only has Winchester. My local gun shop which I REFUSE to visit after accusing my wife of stealing a $10 blaze orange dog vest sell CCI for $19.99 + tax a box (50).

Also a quick question for anybody viewing. What is the heaviest 22 WMR.

And has anybody used the CCI TNT 30 Gr's?

Thanks everyone!

Federal made a 50 grn fmj that is now discontinued. I still see it around though. Otherwise 45 is likely the heaviest you will find. I have used the 30 grn cci out of a few pistols. Very accurate and noticeably more muzzle flash.

I love the CCI 30 grn TNT. The biggest problem is trying to find it in Canada. I've settled for the Hornady 30 grn V-Max but the TNT is more accurate and a far better performer on small game, like rabbits, out past 125 meters.

The TNT, seems to be a bit more accurate in my CZ as well.

I have plans on making a survival rifle out of the H&R sportster. Was hoping the 50 Gr's were still around or something comparable. For large soft skinned game. And was curious on those CCI tnt's on how they performed.

The TNTs ahouldn't be used on anything large at all. They are explosive. I use them almost exclusively for head shooting bunnies out to 150 yards. If my aim is a bit off and I hit them below the head, you can kiss both front quarters goodbye.

They would probably kill a turkey, goose or duck but the damage caused by the bullet would be unacceptable to say the least.

The cheap dynapoints at Walmart and Cdn Tire make great survival rounds. They come with hollow points as well and weights from 30-45 grains.

In your survival rifle, you should sight it in for one brand of cartridges and one weigh of bullet only. Different bullet weights in the 22mag, make huge differences in POI with most rifles.

Have you considered going to the 22Hornet????

Explosive would be fine if it gets past the fur/pelt.

22 Hornet has crossed my mind. Bet kind set on 22 mag as 22LR "can" be used in the dire needs of survival/ SHTF.

I may have to youtube the CCI tnt's

I use a 50 grain Federal Gameshock hollow-point. New inventory seems to be coming in soon at my stores, been using CCI 40 as well when Federal ran out. I prefer the Federal in [new] my firearm because it zeroes at my typical range for close and far [35 and 70], and even in steady light wind I can hold tight groups at double the distance of the other ammo out to 120 yards (kills versus hits). Nearly identical to 40 grain CCI hollow-point which I used before a few years ago with great success , both very clean but Gameshock smoother finish and less deep hollow. Anyone selling Federal should be able to get it in for you, on-line you might try Grouse River too, but they are about two bucks more than in-store locally here.
