Have you had any experience with one of these???

I haven't heard much about these over-unders.

Take a look for yourself if you haven't either: http://www.mossberg.com/products/default.asp?id=15&section=products
(You'll have to use the arrows to scan through the different models)

I'm particularly intersted in the 20ga version - although the ported 12ga looks nice too...

Please post a reply if you like it - love it - or hate it - with your comments

Thanks so much - SD :D

Have you picked one up yet to see how it shoulders. I was totally set on one until i picked it up and pointed it.
It felt like pointing a stubby log. Maybe that's just me. I asked to handle a few other O/U and most were awesome. Too bad they were all over $2000
(I'm still saving)
For a cheap O/U i suppose you can't go wrong.

I'm hoping to go to Epps to try one on for size on the weekend.

I've held other sub $2000 O/U's and found them to weigh, point, and feel like a crowbar.....

Perhaps there's no getting away from laying down a couple large to get a 'good' one....

I'll post my findings after the weekend's grouse hunt - maybe I'll just buy/reload more ammo for my Savage 24 in 22lr/410 - an awesome game getter....

The old story is true you get what you pay for. If the gun looks good that's great, but if it doesn't shoulder right and swing nice it's money well waisted.

Those Mossys are made in Turkey and are prone to firing pin breakage, we've had a couple come into the shop with broken firing pins.

Silver Reserve

I have had a 12 ga Silver Reserve for 2-1/2 years, shot both trap and skeet (approx 6000 rds), pheasants & grouse, without any failures. I had to lengthen the stock with a thicker recoil pad, it now fits me fine. Although I have read about problems with firing pins and chambers being dented by firing pins, I have experienced no such problems. The wood finish and metal engraving is not up to the standards of the "B" guns, but all I expected for the price. All in all, I have been very satisfied with the gun.

Update

I got the chance to take a look at one on the weekend.....

It's true - you get what you pay for.

In this case, it just doesn't make the grade.

If you just HAD to have an O/U and only wanted to spend 600-700 bucks - it might be for you. When you pick up a Browning or Ruger Red Label or Beretta etc., you know you have arrived...

Still saving - SD

The general consensus in other firearms forums is that quality is not consistent with this model. Seems that the quality control is lacking at the Turkish factory where these shotguns are made.

You may get a good gun, or a lemon. Good luck.

I checked these out, but liked the Stoeger Condor a lot better. just shouldered and pointed better for me. My Condor has functioned perfectly so far. I just love this gun. I paid $350.00 in the States. Everyone will tell you you cannot get a reliable gun for this ridiculous low price, but my experience with it proves otherwise-to me, anyway. If I had paid $2000 for an o/u I'd probably agree with them. This is not a high end gun obviously, just a stellar performer! Not a work of art, just a pheasant killing machine!
