i have been shooting both nozler 200 grn balistic tips and 200 grn sst's from my 338 06 for a while. the nozlers are stellar shooters but until sunday i have not used on game. i always have heard that bt's are soft and won't give good penatration but figured for deer they would be fine. no deer but found a bear. broad side at 75 yrds i hit tight behind the shoulder but a little high. the bear dropped so i figured i spined it. when we opened it up the bullet completly severed the spine and exited. a few flakes of jacket material inside but appears the bulk of the bullet exited.
i'm impressed by the performace. i will need a few more animals to prove the bullet but so far looks good.

The 338 caliber Ballistic Tip is one hell of a stout bullet. (Actually all BT's from 180 grain 30 calibre up are built with heavy jackets)

Section a 200 grain 338 BT and you will find it looks like a piece of heavy-wall copper pipe with a lead core. I have shot one moose and a few deer using that bullet in my 338-06 and all of them were "eat up to the hole" .
