hey guys
Good online place to order a shooting belt (what kind will i need), holster (best kinds? dont think ones with the buttons to release the firearm are a good idea) and mag pouches? (do i need 2 double mag pouches, and 1 mag in the gun so carry 5 magazines total)
September 28 I am hopefully doing my Black Badge course, my ATT finally came in so tuesday I will start going to the range every day to fire off some rounds and will be doing dry practice for 15 minutes a day (instructors advice). Anyone have any tips or advice? How difficult is the black badge course?

Just looking for some friendly advice and tips, did some searching but couldnt find specifics i wanted to know.

Thank you,

and if it helps i'll be shooting a Girsan Regard MC 9mm

double tap sports or freedom ventures can set u up with everything u need great service and fast shipping from both. cr speed and ghost products are the best (belt, pouches and holsters)

Focus on sight picture and you trigger prep and squeezing the trigger, basic fundamentals. Don't try practicing your draw as it could lead to the development of bad habits that you will have to unlearn.
Are you doing the course at Silverdale if so you are in good hands.

thanks for the awesome advice! I'll keep that stuff in mind, and definitely not practice drawing from the holster much then and wait till the course to learn

And yes! Great club, i cant wait for the course

also make sure you practice single hand shooting, both weak and strong hand. i did the same course in july at the same
place. if you have gun with external hammer make sure you are accurate single action one hand.

I have three double mag pouches so I carry six 8 round mags. I shoot a 1911 in 45 acp. I also have a 7 round "cheater mag" as well!

Just shoot the gun. Learn it. Take in what you learn in the black badge course and then you practice after.

Like said above. Don't practice draw.

Make sure you practice keeping your finger out of the trigger guard and on the frame. This is very important and will be drilled into your head :) You can find the CR speed dbl belts on sale is you look around.Google is your friend.

I'll most likely pop by when you do your course. Let me know if you want to go practice. I can always use a bit more. You will enjoy the BB course. He'll teach you how to be safe, he'll teach you how to save time and he'll tell you to shoot more to get better.

anyone have helpful tips on a good belt? dont know what to look for..

Also magazine pouches, my instructor told me just to get 4 single mag pouches cause the doubles are generally crap. thoughts?

I couldnt find any reasonable single pouches.. But these cheap doubles caught my eye, any thoughts?

You only paying for pouches once and in the end, your match fees and ammo cost will be much more than you spend on any equipment. So, get the good stuff. The double pouches without angle adjustment are not very good for IPSC.

I have two rigs with single CR Speed pouches and never looked back.

I completely concur with Eugene......pay once, cry once....and get the best equipment you can as you will end up with that gear sooner or later.....and later will just cost you more $.
I have 3 rigs, and swap one holster out with insert (DAA) between them.

when i first joined i bought five single mag pouches.

Just reading from what people say double mag pouches aren't the greatest, useable but yeah.

I just sent a PM and could help face to face if that appeals to you as we are neighbors. Let me know by return PM. I have lots of gear to show you.

Good info. Comp-tac has some interesting holsters. I notice IDPA holster rules seem stricter than IPSC. Any holster that covers the trigger can be used in IPSC correct? It doesn't matter how it is mounted? (IE: off set from the belt so it sticks out a bit for easier draw?) Anyone here use Comp-Tac gear?
