Good powder for 308 & 30-06

I was using IMR4350 in both my .308 and 30-06, and did have great success. I was then told that I should not use the IMR4350 in my .308, so I swithched to IMR4895. I should a 165 gr Nosler Partition, 42.5 gr IMR4895 powder, and CCI200 primers in my .308. In my 30-06 I use 180 Nosler Partition Prot.Pt, 55.5gr IMR4350 powder, and CCI200 primers. I will keep checkimh this post to see if someone comes up with more great advise.

I went through a pound each of IMR4895 and Varget for .308 and both shot well but I seemed to get marginally better elevation consistency with Varget and so bought 4lbs of that to get me through quite a while.

Seems there are lots of options, but I don't think you can go wrong with Varget, based on all my research before I started loading this calibre.

Why do so many people use IMR over Hodgdon, I was always told H was not as temperature sensitive. That matters to me as I use my rifles from +80 to -40...

I use IMR 3031 in my rifles. Meters out well in the Lee Powder measure. Only using 45 grains with a 165 grain BTSP and gets me around 2700 fps. Pretty nice trajectory out to 200 yards as well. Sight in at 30 yards and it only has a 2" deviation at 100 yards. So far has worked well and also runs the Enfield well too.
