I bought a bunch of reloading stuff off a buddy of mine set up for 303 British. Now I went into Wholesale Sports and they had sweet FA for reloading dies and supplies. I am in search of some .308 Winchester and 7.62x54R dies. Is there a good place in Calgary for bullets, powder, primers, dies etc? Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

Russell's Sports. They are owned by the same group as WSS, but actually have stock most days. At least for dies, shell holders, etc. Can't say on primers or powder since I have not bought any there yet. Prices may be slightly higher than WSS, but they actually have something you can take home the same day.

i've dealt with russels for years- it's amazing the difference in store philosphy and yet russels is owned by wholesale- which is in turn owned by ufa coop- i fully expected for russels to close down once wsl had bought them out , but such is not the case- i can still get some stuff through russels ( rifle and shotgun only, and reloading components) and i have to go to wsl for the pistol stuff-

I have also bought some reloading supplies from Russell's. They were very helpful and shipped my items the next day. Wouldn't think twice if I needed something from them.

Thanks a lot for all the info! Now all I need is to get down there and get set up. Do any of you guys reload .308 win or 7.62x54r? Just curious on what your formula's are for them so I have a bit of a starting point other than the Speer reloading manual I also got in the deal.

there's nothing wrong with the speer reloading manual= i've used them and pacific all my reloading life( since 1970) - the one i currently have is 1991 issue- first you have to decide on a bullet weight that will get the job done for what you're going to do- i use the 180 b/c i get a lot mule, elk, moose, and the occasional bear- for strictly deer, you can drop back to 150- i do the east slopes of the rockies, on horseback- it's also dependant on the twist of your barrel- it's all in there in the back of the speer manual- i know for a fact that i can't go heavier than 180 as 1) the heavier bullet seats in the powder , and 2- the greenhill formula says i need a twist of 1/13.4 to stabilise a standard 180- when you go to 200 it says 1/10- and that's good enuff for me

Varget or IMR 4895 are really good for 308 loads. You'll have to find the right load for your particular rifle though.
The Hodgdon website is a great resource for loads, there should be a sticky for it if you haven't found it already.
