Good rifle ranges in the Ottawa/Montreal areas?

As a newbie shooter, I'm looking to move beyond my current range (a small abandoned gravel pit on family land that does 120 meters absolute max) to a proper range. I'm hoping to find a good range that'll let me shoot in the neighbourhood of 300-600 meters, within an hour of Montreal or Ottawa (I live in eastern eastern Ontario).

I've been to EOHC, but their range only goes out to 200 meters, and I'm hoping to find something a little longer.

Any suggestions welcome!

Edited: the club in Petawawa were advertising they had use of the military long distance range. It is an alternative to getting onto the heavily booked ranges at Connaught. And, there is a 600yd range at CFB Kingston, but I have no idea how to get on it or who to ask.

Thanks for the tip!

NCRRA welcomes all new members. This is the best range in Canada, as far as I know! The range is a little chewed up this year as they have graded the mounds needed for the world champ shoots this August (shows that DND is interested!) We hope to be shooting 900m very soon after the new sod takes root. If you are interested email me and I will give you more info. We have rifle to 900m, pistol to 50m as well as skeet and trap, all at Connaught which is inside the city of Ottawa (that in it's self is worth the trip!).

Does connaught allow magnum calibers, now that the CF bought the Timberwolf or is it not allowed, like at St-Bruno?

See the DCRA web page under "Rules" See annex 11.21A to see if your Muzzle Velocity Vs. Ballistic Coefficient fits the template.

sweet according to that graph thingy my .300 WM fits in the acceptable side  now to fill out the forms for the NCRRA match

Stittsville is an excellent range if it suits your needs and to be honest I have never found any range that suits them all! Unless I where to buy a lot of land in some gun friendly country (dream on and on and...........).

I've been to Stittsville and EOHC. Both are suitable ranges, but I've decided to join EOHC for a few reasons -- the membership fees are lower, the range hours are longer, and the location is nicer. I love the shop inside Stittsville though. Connaught seems to have odd hours.

Though still waiting on EOHC to go do their safety course... understandable but still painful as I just purchased my first handgun and cfc needs to verify my membership :)
