Hey all,

I am looking for a scope to mostly shoot targets and a bit of hunting.

I’ve been recommended the leupold 1.5-5. Was curious what you would recommend and in this scope range, whst would be the best value.

Good day,

Vortex has some nice scopes with awesome warranties. I'd recommend something with a magnification of 3-9 with a objective size of 40mm. I would need more information on the rifle to make a further recommendation and the type of hunting you will be doing.

Howa 1500 HCR. Mostly target shooting 50-200 yards and a bit of Deer hunting.

You dodged a bullet by not opting for the vortex imo.

I have both Leupold and Vortex scopes and they both work well, no complaints either way. I was in the market for a VX3i LRP 4.5-14x50 and chose to buy the Vortex Viper PST Gen 2 5-25x50. I can say doing extensive research and personal comparison with each, that the Vortex came out on top for my intended application . However for a hunting rifle such as my .270 I chose to go with a Leupold vx3 4.5-14x50 Boone & Crocket as it made the perfect scope for my application. I used to be a die hard Leupold fan but I do admit Vortex does make some affordable and quality glass (even if 90% of their scopes are made over seas) and the warranty is better than Leopold as they replace/repair with no questions asked.
