Good Sling

Yeah, hmmmm.

I would try a conventional issue sling but adjusted long enough to hang over your opposite shoulder much like two point slings on modern tacticool rifles. If you want some thing more modern look at or talk to One Shot Tactical about a Vickers sling or what ever they recommend. If you post this question in the Black Rifles forum you will get a response from Farmboy in about a nano second :D

The M1 is already set up with swivels on the right side to facilitate this type of sling arrangement.

I personally prefer a single point for CQB (okay, to be fair it is all I have ever tried) but that would mean wrapping a sling around the wrist of the stock (uggg) or drilling and tapping in a sling swivel near the rear of the receiver (UGGGGGG!!!!).

If you think you want to go single point just grab an old carry sling you may have laying around and see if you can get it adjusted in a way that lets you have clear access to change mags and be able to drop it and let it hang in a decent position to be able to use your pistol.

The more I think about it the more I would be inclined to talk to OST about a two point, they are way more knowledgeable about this stuff than me.

Looking at pics of the M1 and it has sling hook ups that would match perfectly with the Blue Force Gear Victory or Vickers slings.

I use to run single points before the Vickers came out. I would not go back.

A modern sling like the VCAS is there to help rather than the old school two points (carry straps) or 3 points (which just get in the way) which just help you carry your firearm around.

The disadvantage to the single point sling is that if you are moving or doing anything other than shooting or standing still, the muzzle (firearm) will swing around like a wrecking ball, which is never good for the knees or nuts. So what happens is if you walk up to change or patch a target, bend over to get more ammo from your pack, pick up empty mags on the ground is that you always have to keep one hand on the firearm.

With the Vickers sling, you don't have to keep one hand on the firearm if you are doing the above things.

With the small loop formed in the Vickers sling, some guys use it to lock their elbow in for longer shots, similar to wrapping the sling but much faster to use.
