Hey all! What would be a good smith? I'm in the yorkton area and was wondering if they're are any smiths in eastern sk? Work that I would be doing in the future might include rebarling a savage 110, blueing a winchester 62a, and other assorted jobs.

Depends. If you want a barrel on a savage just about anyone. If you want a target rifle go to Dennis Lair, no question. If you want to build a hunting rifle, or get a bedding job that can pass as art, or general work that you would like to see before you die of old age go to Craige Douglas. Blueing is tough. Used to be that everyone sent (or forwarded) their blueing work to Karey Higgins so you might want to check out Ye Olde Gunsmithing in 'Toontown.

Kerry has been gone several years now but the shop is still open.

Did Kerry ever take any training for gunsmithing. When I knew him in Calgary he was just a store clerk at Barotto Sports... we rented a house together... he suddenly quit and left for Saskatchewan and I got stuck with the rent... Never saw him again.

They sold off the blueing tanks a few years back, before he passed away; and yes Kerry took training , in the US.

Kerry was easy to get a long with and so is Eileen but that Larry that Eileen hangs around with is really something else. If I remember right the young fellow there in the back is Jay Guthrie?
