So... I just traded my .36 cal black powder pistol,
ball mould,
spare parts,
caps,
a box of ball,
10 lbs of pure lead and
2lbs of powder.
for
a Firearms Co. of England Alpine special model in 7mm mag with:
lots of brass,
a box of 162 gr btsp interlocks,
rings,
a bushnell 3X9X40 scope,
and reloading dies!
I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet but I'm looking forward ro it. I've never fired a 7mm mag before. I've always been a .30 cal guy, except .22's and shotguns of course.
Does anyone have any feedback on this rifle? I know it uses a Mauser bolt/ action much like a Parker Hale Thats about all I have been able to find out about it.
regards, Hitch

you got ripped off!

Okay do you have a reason for this statement or is it just an off hand remark? Do you know anything about these rifles? I've never heard of them before. I figured better to have a rifle I'll shoot than a black powder pistol that I've had my fun with and doubt I will ever shoot again.
regards, Hitch

If you're happy with the trade then consider it a good trade! It's as simple as that. It's definitely not always about getting the adding machine out and figuring out dollars and cents, particularly on hard to find items.

We're gunnutz, not accountants!

That's my thoughts exactly Northman! Becides It was a trade with my brother in law. I want to keep him happy... he is the only other sane member in the family!!!! I hope the wife isn't looking over my shoulder right now!!

We have some accountants on here too, some smiley abusers as well.

Alpine guns are on par or better with the Parker Hales. I'd say its a fine deal. Shoot the hell out of her. You'll not notice any difference in your 7mm and a .30 cal unless the thirty you are used to shooting is a .30-30......, it will hit hard, fly flat, and do whatever you need it to do. Well done.

Depends on you!

...personally, not much use for pistols. Not much use (yet) for black powder.

LOTS of use for a Mauser actioned, popular chamber, scoped rifle!

love mausers and black powder pistols are just cool! if your happy then who cares?

My hunting partner shoots an Alpine Supreme in 7mm. It doesn't always pick up the last cartridge. I bedded it for him last year and it shoots just fine.

If both of you got rid of something you had no use or interest for,
and you both received something that you are both very happy with.
Then it was a good deal.
One mans garbage is another man's gold.
works that way with ex's also :)
(still looking to trade a nice Garand for
a good son-inlaw :)

"A nice Garand!"....... What does the law say about more than one wife at a time?!?!?

Still haven't shot it ,but that is an option I will hold onto

I have an Alpine Supreme in 7mm RM as well, given to me by my grandfather. Shoots well enough (only has a 4x scope on it). It is a keeper for sentimental reasons.

I have about 10 guns that I have the same attachment to. My dad passed away a few years ago, at the age of 61, and left them to me. They wouldn't be my first choice of shooters, but they all have good memories attached to them!

Hmmmmmmm, that depends what State you live in.
Now if we are talking GF hiden in garage :)
Sooner or later i would get busted by the fun police
i live with now :)

I did some thinking and realized that twice as many wives means twice as many nagging women telling you what to do instead of going shooting like you planned!!!! Soooo forget my last line of thought!!
