Hi,

I'm interested in buying a good "bang for the buck" scope to use for testing handload grouping (mostly 338 win mag and 458 win mag).

I have a bushnell banner (1.5-6) right now that is starting to fog up a little bit and I'm not sure if it's holding its zero either - I'm noticing loads that used to group very well are starting to open up.

Who makes a quality scope that will handle the recoil without breaking a sweat or my bank account? I'm a little disappointed in the Bushnell as it's only a year old and already starting to fog up a bit. It's been kicked by maybe 500-600 458 rounds and 150 or so 338 rounds.

Will spending more money get me a scope that is more rugged or will I just end up wrecking a more expensive scope?

I've always been an iron sight type of guy. I don't think I know very much at all about what to look for.

If u got That many rds out of a banner from a 458-338mag you are doing well! Bushnell makes usually a very good product for the price but you are into the cheaper end of the line forsure with the Banner! i would suggest you look into a used Bushnell Elite 4200 or 6500 if you can find one or a leopold

You could look at the 2-7 in the 3200 series, you have enjoyed far more shooting through your Banner that I thought you'd ever get with those big boomers. FS

Leupolds are generally pretty solid mechanically. The new Leupold built Redfields look promising as a decent budget optic.
