Goose calls

Hello all,

I am looking to step up in my level of calling. I don't know what to look for in terms of research material.

Can anybody point me to a good way to learn what calls to make and when?

Also, how do I select a goose call. I hear all these terms like "Deep goosey low end", and "high turnover for triple clucks and high-balling"?! What do I need? Can someone point me to 1 or 2 calls that will cover most situations from far-away calls to up-close finishing calls? I don't mind buying 1 maybe 2 good expensive calls, but how do I know which to pick?

I use a Scotch goose call, they are super easy to use and work as good as any others out there. I don't think you can find them new anymore, but they always come up on Ebay, many times still unused in the box. I also have one of their duck calls that Ive used for years.
 
i like the sound of the lynch mob calls. they sound awesome and from what ive read about them if you have any questions or problems with the call you can call the owner of the company and he can and will help you out with everything from helping you learn to use it so tuning it for what you want to do with it. If I ever buy another goose call it will be a lynch mob call..
that's just my choice though

I got a Mick Lacey call from the Sail in Ottawa, its acrylic, sounds great and was around $40.... buddy of mine has a $160 foiles call and likes mine a lot more lol

Every time I hear things like this, I wonder how I should select my call. Foiles is a great name, and many swear by their calls. The only one I've ever heard sounded way too high pitched for my liking.

I like the sound of these Lynch Mob calls; I like supporting a ompany that stands behind their product, and if they will help me tune my call if I ever have issues, it brings peae of mind that in the end I will end up with a call that works. They have that Reaper call; supposed to be a great general purpose all; I may start with that one.

If interested in advice for goose calls, there is a topic on goosehuntingchat.com in the call section for good calls under $100, so you do not have to spend a fortune on a call without learning how to use it first. i would suggest that you buy the DVD "Bad Grammar" by Molt gear, or watch Field Proven "adrenaline call" on you tube. Great instructional videos on how to learn to call.
