Got out for the first time this season, really hot and sunny day here near Toronto. Spent the afternoon waiting, but as expected about 45 mins before sunset the geese started flying over my farm in big flocks, and consistently.

Got too excited when I called the first flock of about 15 in (I don't use decoys, just pass shoot) and fired 2 rounds just beyond my range and scared them all away. Lucky me about 15 mins later 2 birds fell for my calls and I took the lead bird. It was getting dark so I called it a night. Lucky me again, I can go anytime I want :D

If I had had a partner tonight we would have limited easily. I was just brushing the dust off really, not looking to take too many birds. Going to marinate some meat tonight and try my hands and making some goose jerky tomorrow.

Also wanted to mention it was my first time using 3" Remington Sportsman Hi-Speed Steel (in BB) with my 870 and it worked great. I used to use cheaper Federal steel BB loads, but didn't have any on hand today.

That's my story. Anybody else having any luck?

Cheers.

Grats on a successful hunt. Mind if I ask what kind of choke you were using? I have the same gun, I might take it out to pattern it this week.
