For all the gopher shooters out there, how is this for an idea?

Some areas in Manitoba, Sask, and Alta have more gophers than shooters. Farmers may go begging for somebody to come around and take care of them. Locals can only do so much, and they get busy and may not be able to handle it all. There's also a TON of guys who would love to get in on the action.

How can we hook the two groups up? My idea is to get a rural CGNer to put up a few flyers at the Co-Op, the grain elevator, the feed store, fertilizer plant, etc., with his name and number and farmers can call him to ask for somebody to come out and shoot gophers. This way they are in contact with a local whom they may know, who in turn has a list of CGN members willing to come out and do some extermination work. We can organize a list of who is close to what area, and take it from there.

So, the key is to find some rural CGNers to volunteer to put up a few flyers in their area, and see if anybody cares to use it. I know you want to keep them all to yourselves, but you just can't kill them all! How about it, anybody willing to do some up-front work?

This sounds like a great idea.

I live in Winnipeg and know there's lots of gophers out there. Unfortunately it is a big hassle to get out of the city, find a suitable area and then try and find a landowner who wants rid of the vermin.

Next time I'm out of the city I'll bring along some posters.

There was a CGN member that started a pest control forum for farmers and people who wanted to do some gopher shooting.

Here's the orignal post:

However, the server is hooped and there no other forum at this time. It was supposed to be a netoworking tool for farmers and vaminters to connect. I offered to do some writing to the feed farms which I posted up links to. I'd like to connect with some private land owners to set up a regular trip out to
Alberta every year. Like you Grouse Man I'm willing to do some leg work to get a long term thing going with the local land owners. Simply put the more responsible we are there is a likelier chance the land owners will look to us for help.

There have been some generous CGN member(s) that have offered to take guys who are interested pest control out around Alberta.
