I think " its a go". !!!!!!! My first stop will be Wholesale Sports to user my gift card to nab some ammo and some general directions. I'm bringing the camera to put some pics up here , as I fully intend to "give them the business" !! And the 4x4, I know about you sneaky prairie folk and your insidious mud from hell! !

HOOOOLLLLYYYYY CRRRRRRAAAAAAAPPPPPPP that just plain sucked sweaty monkey sack! ! !
I got a grande total of 12 gophers. That is all I seen. 7 with the .17 hmr and the rest with the .22.
I must have hit it the wrong time of year, maybe end of May would be better?
I know with out a doubt that there are more gophers where I usually go here at home than where I was today outside of Warner Alberta. Got a SMOKIN'! deal on Federal American Eagle .22 $20.00 a brick of 400. Shoulda hit the boost on the CC and bought a case lot! ! ! LOL And I forgot the damn camera ! ! ! CRAP ! ! !
And no, I did not get stuck ! ! ! But I seen where someone else did!! Wowzers!

It is ALWAYS a good idea to check the Weather forecasts before going a long distance to hunt.

Environment Canada has set up Doppler Radar sites all across Canada. These can be accessed using the Internet.

For Example, here in the local Manitoba area, it is Foxwarren Radar. If you "google" that name, it will bring up the radar set for Western Manitoba. Eastern Manitoba's radar is at Woodlands.

This gives a local map with the current weather displayed. If you go to "Current Conditions and Forecasts", you can get weather for anywhere in Canada. Click on the Province, then the City or Town, and a seven day forecast will come up.

Very handy indeed, but don't tell the Government they are doing something right because some Donkey will want to change it.

It's not the wrong time of year, just the wrong day.

On monday I got about 75ish in the Claresholm area. This weekend I took a peak at the same spots and never saw a thing, and no I didn't kill them all the 1st time!

It was the wet and gloomy weather. Wait for a hot sunshiny day and they will all be crawling again..
