Bought a brand new 10/22 basic model from Prophet River, shipped in 3 days....

I know there are mods that can be made, and I can see 3 that I want to do asap.

1. Mag release....where do I get one in Canada and is it easy to do.

2. The butt plate is plastic, I want a metal one.

3. I think you can get a handle extension for pulling the 'bolt' back.

Other question is what type of ammo.

Thanks guys

Dan

Ok, where to begin!? I am just going to jump in on this

A Volquartsen exact edge extractor is the best 12 dollars you can spend on our 10/22 to prevent all jams/stove piping.

*As far as metal butt plates I have no clue
*Extended bolt handles and mag releases can be acquired at rimfiresports. com or ca cant remember exactly, same as the extractor.
* Do not get frustrated there is a break in process of about 500 to 1000 rounds until the rifle cycles smoothly (the extractor works miracles)
* As far as ammo goes, its like any other 22, you just need to buy multiple types of ammo in 50 round boxes and test it out to figure out what type your rifle likes/cycles

Last but not least! Enjoy and don't be afraid to put thousands of rounds through it

The automatic bolt release is handy and it can be done with a small file in under 20 minutes. Just search it on YouTube.

Does it not have an extended mag release from factory?

Metal carbine butt plates are quite rare.

You can use a 10/22 Magnum charging handle, or find an aftermarket one.

Have fun!

the stock trigger is AWFUL !

just buy ASAP a volquartsen target hammer first, this plug and play mod will drop your trigger from 6-7 lbs to 2-3 lbs ;)

i did the hammer, the extractor and the autobolt release as well on my 10/22

Ah, okay. Check with Fabsports. 10/22 parts are pretty tough to get since the border closed right up. For a while there were a couple of Canadian-friendly websites, but they have stopped exporting.

There are probably a few others who supply parts, but I cannot think of anyone at the moment.
