More to follow....my old beater of a 7.63 might end up on the EE if this comes through. Though, I am still hoping to get the replacement extractor and safety for it first....

Mind you, it'd come with a big pile of bullets (I've got about 150-200 rounds of .30 Mauser stashed away...)

The things you don't find at a gunshow...

The Waverley Show this morning was the standard stuff...there was a $900 dewat (fully welded) Bren Mk 1, and a $450 Dewat Sten Mk III, a couple of FN's (Brits, one welded, one not) and a total of 2, that's right, TWO WHOLE AR's. There was a Savage #4, looked like it was matching, but overpriced, a nice AG-42, a couple of FN-49's, and some other bits and pieces.

Picked up some primers for a friend, and that was about it at the show for me.

Anybody else pick anything up?

Red nines in decent condition are very hard to find and command a high price, glad you were able to find one. I have my 7.63 broomhandle but the only thing missing is the extractor clip for the bolt (and appears to not be a cheap replacement either).

Had a look around, did not see anything overly appealing

Ditto. Good to see the parking lot full and a decent crowd though. Even though it's the 'same old stuff' from show to show, I don't want to see these shows come to an end. So I pay the 5 bucks, have a wander around and generally leave empty handed.

lots of the same guns I handled at the bible hill show, I did get 2 fat tobacco cans of 1940's .303 and got some 6.5x55 for an ok price. No guns this time though, cause i picked up a p-14 on friday

Hey Brad, My son picked up the VERY cleanly dewatted Aussie L1A1 for a VERY fair price. The dewat sten mk3 was a very nicely done dewat and was in very nice shape but priced plenty high. Man! That 1928A1 Thompson dewat( wasn't for sale) was one I'd love to have in my gun room! I bought quite a bunch of CDN 9mm ball ammo at a fair price and a NEW original mag for my VZ52/57 for a whole $20.00. I near died when I got that mag for that price! What a steal! I made a connection after the show that got me 5 good guns today, two of which will never leave my collection. I also picked up a barrel for an antique .22 that I needed, a complete spares kit and accessories for my AG42B, some powder and cast bullets, I really didn't get much more. I did get to see and speak with a few guys I haven't seen in a while too though. It seemed to have a bit more "different stuff" to offer than the Bible Hill show, although some vendors had the same guns and goodies on the tables. It was a good show and great to see such a big turnout. Good to see you again even if my son and I didn't get time to talk with you much this time.

Heya!

I think we were in the same areas at the same times.....did one of your boys buy a C2 bipod on Saturday?

I saw the 9mm ball, but tend to shy away from buying ammo with unknown provenance.

I had a good talk with the gent over his Tommy-gun, looked rather nice.

I've got a live Aussie, Brit, Indian, and Canuck FN at home, so I wasn't looking much at the Dewats....the Bren drew my eye a bit, alas, it was $900+ that I didn't have.

That said, I'm rather pleased with the Red nine. Just tore it down, and compared to my 1911 C-96 I have, it's got obvious signs of wartime production.

Yup! That was my youngest lad that bought the C2 bipod. He's the guy that was with me when we met at Blockhouse that day. That red nine was a nice acquisition Brad! I looked hard at the Bren Brad. I had the cash to spend but I felt it was a bit too cut up and welded for my personal tastes.

I think I was just walking in the door as it was being put away behind the table. From the quick glace I got of it, she looked like a nice one!

So, NavyShooter, you're the lucky fellow who had dibs on that Red Nine. I have to confess I was momentarily overcome with drool at the brief glimpse of it I was afforded. ;)

Had a great time for my second gun show. It was nice to head back home with something new to look forward to shooting this time, as opposed to just getting our bearings at Bible Hill.. paid off in spades though as my dad now has his long sought after Inglis Pistol No. 1 for his shoulder stock to play with. And a decent P38 to round things off as well.

I do hope to some day make it to one of the shows for both days, but for now I'll have to hope you guys take pity on me and leave some of the good stuff for Sundays so I have a sporting chance!

Irishtown is next, in the spring?

I picked up some gun care products, there was a gent there with some Ruger Blackhawks that I handled, he had some pretty nice examples, another gun that got my attention was a Browning Auto - 5 slug gun, a nice 6.5X55, and an interesting H&R .22 lr buntline double action revolver, and I only saw one AR-15. :D

DocZ,

There's now a .30 Mauser C-96 up for grabs in the EE if you're interested...

Sorry for not talking much with you, I had my daughter along and was trying to keep her time fun (kids having safe fun around guns is an important means of keeping them interested.)

Hey,

I hit up the show later on Saturday morning, and I was not impressed with any of the prices. I tried to buy a small box of .22 short that I found burried under a bunch of other ammo. It didn't have a price on it, so I asked the fellow how much he wanted for it, he said $5!!! I told him that I would go to CT and buy it for $2 and change, and I did it too. Also made an offer on a box of unmarked mixed 9mm and the guy wanted $15, so I laughed and made my why down the row of tables and bought some remmy UMC 9mm for $9. Really, do these guys think that we are dumb?

It seems that most people go to these shows to score a deal or two, and rightfully that is the why it should be. Sometimes I get a deal, sometimes I don't, but I really think that the vendors that present at these shows should realize this and they would make many more sales.

Anyways I'll keep going to these shows as it helps to promote hunting and the shooting sports.

I would be if my wallet didn't groan in protest at the thought of it. :D

I'm not sure that I am who you think I am - although it's all a blur now, maybe I'm just not remembering. Actually it was all a blur then too, since I neglected to get any sleep Saturday night.. the 6:30 ferry waits for no man.

My dad and I were hanging around Mr. MacDonald's table for a fair chunk of the morning, and I think he was just having fun teasing us with the Red Nine while he was digging through a box to find the Inglis.

DocZ, it's a pretty reasonable price for a C-96. The big part is that it comes with a pile of .30 Mauser ammo.

NS

I too have never seen a C96 for under $400 unless something is seriously wrong with it. Ones I have seen at gunshows that are the C96 by themselves in fair condition go for $550 +.

I would buy it if I already did not have one.
