Hey guys just figured id drop in and say hey, dont have my pal yet (well I plan to get a RPAL). But have gone hunting before (under my brothers supervision he has a RPAL).

I always knew hunting rifles and shot guns were legal here in Canada but didnt know that guns like the VZ58 semi auto and the AR15 were legal.

All I have to say is they look damn cool and fun to shoot !!!
I cannot wait to start my collection (GUNS GUNS AND MORE GUNS).

The laws suck only 5 roung magazines and not being able to have fully auto guns. A criminal is a criminal if hes going to shoot someone hes not gunna be concerned about whether his gun is legal or not.

Had a chat with my parents about guns and they feel the way I do, anyone and everyone should be able to own a gun as long as they havent been involved in a crime and that they have passed the PAL and RPAL (by owning a gun I mean anything from hand gun right to an AK47).

Criminals commit crimes law abiding citizens are the victoms !

So thanks for the education guys, when I get a chance later to write something a little bit formal I will be mailing my MP about how "retarded the current gun laws are".

Nag Nag NAG and complain and complain is the only way we will get things changed !!!
 
Oh no worries I want an AR 15 and a VZ58.

Oh and JohnC do you think the cops would give much trouble on those mags ? Ya know cause some of them are not up on the confusing gun laws and all !

this guy is the first "noob" to come off with such strong political views I have ever seen. Most new guys ask questions, and seek advise. Not this guy.. he's on a mission.

my advise for you Newfie 1986:
Pass your PAL, then learn to shoot, then save your money for the next 10 years, then go get an AR. Its not a beginners rifle bro. Im not saying I'm a pro.. Im trying to say its not normally someones first rifle. You are a little too quick....
 
Looks like someone has read the advice to new members and followed it to me. Shouldn't be anything strange about that, the fact that it seems strange is a sad reflection on our society. Welcome aboard Newfie 1986, there's no reason not to have decent equipment from the start if your budget allows it. Just remember there's no substitute for rounds downrange, in as many kinds of weather situations as possible. The key to being a good shooter is , well, shoot - anything you can, under all conditions, from all possible positions, as much as possible. Don't forget to join the NFA, CSSA, or both, so that you can keep your firearms and pass them on to future generations.

While i'm not a lawyer, to me personally , its just know the law, and have your license and registration with you, follow all the transport rules religiously, volunteer nothing. Get a photocopy of the relevent sections of the legislation on this forum. for instance get the CFC bulletin on the Beretta Storn being able to use Beretta 10 round pistol mags, a copy of the letter posted by questar on the LAR pistol mags etc etc.(there probably will be a similar letter to the Storm one on the LAR mag) keep all this paperwork in a handy spot such as behind the liner of your gun case, just explain that this is identical to the beretta storm/ruger pc9/10 situation.and be polite - the vast majority of police are not out to "get" anybody.


others may have other approaches- its what I do. I've never had any issues in almost 25 years of restricted shooting- only had firearms questions twice during traffic stops the police will know about you anyway through the automated firearms center checks during traffic stops

Strange huh.... Have we become so suspicious that when someone is excited about the sport, and wants to help out, that we automatically think they are a troll, or "anti"... Now, you may be right, but lets hope not.

To me, the young Newf, sounds like exactly that. A young fella that might be at this moment a little over zealous, and is trying to get his head wrapped around this confusing world of owning guns in Canukistan.

Newf, before you go blasting off letters to MP's and Santa Claus about the injustice of the gun laws up here, talk to some of the guys here who have experience in this area. There are ways to write a good letter without sounding to redneck.. LOL Apparently, it's all in the wording... :D

Anyways, welcome to the forum, and enjoy your toys!
 
Welcome to the board. Get you Pal(s) done and make sure you don't go too crazy with credit cards when you start buying toys. (I should really take my own advice on the CC thing though :rolleyes: )

My AR15 was my second rifle. Nothing wrong with shooting the gong at 300yds after you learn how to aim with your 22.

What are you trying to imply ? If you read what I wrote I beleive I said I have had experience with firearms im not a total NEWBIE I HAVE GONE HUNTING !

To everyone else I have pretty much read through a lot of whats on here about writing mps and what not, No I will not write like a red neck I only write like a red neck on places like this lol !!! I can write pretty well when needed.

Oh and by the way Plink your right in him being over suspicious, like really what a way to turn a guy off the sport. I still cant wait to get some more money together, got about $1000 now (put away for this), im not going to let one person get me down. I have calmed down a bit since starting to write all this.

And hoochie id be willing to forgive and forget if ya point me in the direction of some pics of you're AR 15 (real cool looking guns). Im not hard to get along with, I understand you guys get a lot of crap about these things but its only easy to turn people off and even easier for someone to take something the wrong way online !

1R Carbine 16, W/carry handle $1515 Thats not too scary ! Would that be a good platform to start with ?

Or would I be better off going with Stag-15 Model 4 ? I guess the longer barrel would make it a little more accurate ??

Id shoot it stock for a little while to get a feel for it then move to optics but can I use optics on this model ?


Oh the only rifle I have shot so far is my brothers 6.5-55 Mauser out in a gravel pit, im not too bad of a shot ! Could be a lot better though !

My brother has been trying to get me into moose hunting for a while now, I just dont think I could stand cutting one open though without heaving my guts up (guess im just one of the few weak Newfies who cant handle it LOL). I have rabbit hunted though...
