Got an m305 on the way. Recommend a cleaning kit!

Simple green worked great on my entire rifle right out of the box. Rinsed with water, used compressed air to blow out moisture and lubed the bad boy up.

Anyone use Frog lube for their M305? I just got one and started using the frog. Only fired 40 rounds so far but it seems to work alright. Not sure if it'll be as effective as lithium grease tho. Thoughts?

I think I'd use grease to pack the roller on the bolt, pocket in the oprod for the roller and grease in the receiver channels for the bolt. Frog lube everywhere else should be fine. I've used nothing but light oil when out hunting in sub zero temps as a single shot shouldn't cause much wear.

I use frog lube paste to clean the gas system and bore. I have found that frog lube does a great job at dissolving the carbon like it's supposed to. Frog lube seems to stick to the parts really well so try to get as much off as you can when cleaning the gas system. I don't know if you know this frog lube paste will turn into an oil as you work it. For action lubrication I use permatex lithium grease from Canadian Tire because it stays put even after hundreds of rounds.

I think your question has been well answered. All that needs saying now is ENJOY your gun and shoot the sh-t out of it.
Also as a sidenote, avoid the temptation to upgrade parts like springs and sights etc, at least until you've really got to know what the gun can do. Some of em are remarkably good out of the box.

There is a Stickied FAQ thread at the top of this forum that goes over cleaning, lubricating, and many, many other things........have a read through it.

Grease is all you need to lubricate a M14 type rifle............there isn't anything on the rifle that requires oil for lubrication...........

As others have already said, a good quality one piece .30 cal cleaning rod (such as a Dewey), a patch jag, and a muzzle/bore guide is all you need for cleaning the bore. I have used the 12 gauge shell bore guide for years...............a small paint brush is also handy for greasing the bolt lugs and receiver bolt tracks......
