Sounds like your first rifle - this is some of the better advice here. While you're shooting, start gathering information on what to do to improve it (and start saving some cash for better optics, reloading equipment, stock, bipod, ... etc.)

:agree:Just shoot the darn thing a wise man once told me!
 
First, go shoot the damned thing (so you can figure out what's it's natural accuracy potential is) .... Post results, and I'm sure suggestions of how to squeeze a few seconds of angle of accuracy <could> be achieved will pour in.... Chances are it'll shoot better than MOA out of the box .... In that case, leave it alone, and just buy a good scope to put on it.

Wow, lotsa responses. I am going to shoot trap in the morning and my 700 later. I have a bipod and a Simmons scope (I know not great but the price was right for now), Leupold rings.
I have had some offers to use reloading equipment so I really want to learn. I am excited to spend some time shooting tomorrow.
And yes it's a Varmint and yes, I am a girl!!!
 
Firing Pin?

One of the first things I got done to my Rem 700 was change the factory firing pin and spring to a David Tubb titanium firing pin and spring. Of course the re-loads helped out incredibly. But like a few posts back said, shoot your gun, and learn to be consistent in your shooting technique, and then futz around with the rifle. Good luck!
