When the deal with Northern Republic Magazines fell apart I bought some Elander 10 round mags and some GS Designs mag extensions as well as some magpuls off the EE . I used my refund money and it cost less than the 3 mags from NRM so I am happy :d
I finally got all the parts today and put them together. The quality of the mags and mag extensions are really good .I used these mags in my rifle previously and they functioned fine . I painted the mag extensions gloss black and when installed the dimensions are pretty much the same as an original 5/20 mag .
They feel very secure when connected and I have read good reviews on them both.
The color of the mag extenssions in the pics looks like it doesn't match with the Elander mags in some pics but gloss black works pretty good at matching up .

I did not realize the Elander AIA mags could be extended to hold a capacity > 10 rounds? Who sells these? I have experienced occasional failures to feed using the Elander AIA mags in m305 and M1A. The mag shifted down slightly as I was firing. A tap corrected the problem. They probably run flawless in the AIA rifle, what they were designed for?

Don't take this the wrong way but I'm confused about the benefits of the mag extension(is it for looks?)
I picked up an Elander AIA mag when Al Flaherty's had them on sale for $56 to test out in my SA SOCOM16. It has functioned flawlessly. I like the fact that they are compact (10/10's) and don't hang below the rifle but I do like the idea of the magpulls.

They are a pain to do a quick mag change with in the original configuration. The extra length makes it easier to rock the mag forward and out .They also fit in my mag pouches better this way as well .

I believe they come in 5 and 10 round mags...totally legal for use in a M-305

The mag extensions are just to extend the "body" so to speak of the mag to the size of a normal mag. They don't increase the capacity.

I prefer the length of the elander as is.
However, for the norinco 5 round shorty mags I use for hunting.... The GS Designs mag extensions are damn perfect. I like the finished length and it's a bonus that the extension adds almost no weight to the mag.
2 thumbs up ;)

okay not sure if this is a stupid question or maybe i didnt read something correct. 10 round mags are legal for a m305? so why are they pinned to 5 round? can i alter my current magazine to hold 10 round's or would that be illegal? can someone please clarify

Magazine capacities are restricted based on what the mag was designed for. AIA Enfeild mags are designed for AIA Enfields, there for not held to the 5 round limit as the AIA is a bolt gun. These mags just so happen to also fit M14/M1A/M305.

There are a number of similar occurances in our legislation that allow us to have slightly more bearable mag capacities for our semi-autos. A few of these occurances are:
-Pistol Mags that fit rifles, common for AR's and a number of pistol caliber carbines
-.50 Beowulf mags are designed to feed .50 caliber munitions single stacked through a modified AR mag to be used in a .50 Beo AR. These mags also function for 5.56 in a double stack mag like normal and hold 5 rounds of .50 Beo wich translates to approximately 15 rounds of .223/5.56.

And the mag extensions do nothing to increase capacity...
They add outside length to the short mags for easier handling... That's it. No extra boolitts fit with the extension
I'm sure that's already been mentioned but seems folks are getting somewhat confused

Right but if the cops or fish-cops catch you with 10 rounds in your semi auto M305/M14/M1A be prepared for a fight.

I have a feeling it would be a heck of a-lot of hassle until you proved it to be a AIA enfield mag.

Might be worth it though to have a 10 rnd capacity legally.

bookmarked it and put it in my firearms bookmarks folder.

If i ever need it i can show them right from my phone.

I agree though i would definitely want proof on hand if the cops had a fit over it.

Would anyone know if the Maglula FN FAL for .308 mags would work with these Elander mags?
If not, what loaders are people using?
