Went out to the field to sight in my H&R Handi-rifle in .243 Win. just before sunset today. Saw a buck and a doe on the way up there walking along the fence line by the road and cursed my luck since the only rifle I had with me wasn't sighted in. Got out to where I have my targets set up and put the laser boresighter on, adjusted the scope, took a shot then adjusted again. Took another shot and figured it should be close to right on; I was about to walk up and check the target when I saw a deer about 200 yards off. Picked up my rifle and looked through the scope and sure enough it was a buck, nose to the ground following the fence line in the direction the other deer had gone. He was about to pass behind a bluff so I grabbed the rifle and ran up to my target stand to confirm the rifle was on and use the stand for a rest. The buck came around the bluff and continued up the fence line, and I shot him behind the left shoulder from about 80 yards away. He got about 25 yards before he fell over and he was dead by the time I got over there.
Kinda funny how that turned out, I wasn't even planning on hunting today and then a buck came right to me. Pics to follow.
