i bought a new, stainless ruger for $265 out the door in the box :)

so i havnt done anything yet, other then throw an el-cheapo bushnell 3x9 scope

i sighted in with blazer ammunition, and all i can say is wow. stock barrel at 30 yards and its shooting a dime pretty much every time. it has its off shots every 10 shots or so which may drift an inch, but still, i was very pleased with the accuracy out of the box :)

i cant wait to start dumping money into it now ahaha

and i know people were talking about the 500 yard shot for the .17, i paced out 450 yards on my property and took about 30 shots.

with my barska 6x24x50 i had the target in the very bottom of the scope and i only got 1 on paper. wind was non existant, i could see the dirt hitting up around the target, but the drift was very hard to anticipate.

mind you i wasnt trying to hard, and i was getting absolutly molested by deer flys.

so the extracter makes the shells eject better? my gun has no problem ejecting shells.

and please stop pm'ing me about where i got the gun for so cheap, it was from a store and it was my 4th gun i bought there so they cut me a deal.

Your gun will need the extractor after a few hundred rounds, so you might as well replace it before you need to. As for the PM's, maybe you shouldn't have flaunted your "$265 out the door", lol , of course people are going to want to know where...

Yea i havent had any extractor issues on mine yet either. Although if you are thinking of ordering anything for the 10/22 I dont think the 10 bucks for the extractor is a waste of money. Even if you just keep it as a back up since it seems alot of people start having issues after 4000 or 5000 or maybe more rounds

I've never heard this before...and mine still extracts fine after several thousand rounds....and its all stock

I have four 10/22's. 2 of them had issues with FTE right out of the box, started as maybe 1 in every 50, then gradually worked it's way down to 1 in every ten or so. Changed to the VQ extractor, problem has all but dissapeared. The last 2 got the extractor swap before they ever fired a shot. I have also used the PC titanium extractor without issues. If yours doesn't have any issues, then you've gotten lucky (or your using better ammo then me :D). There is a reason that VQ and PC make these parts available to us....;)

The must have upgrades....IMHO....are to swap the pin to a buffer, put in a target hammer, and swap the extractor. Night a day difference over an all stock 10/22, and you can have them all for under $60.

mine has the occasional failure with bulk ammo, but i think that's normal for most semi .22s. i normal use hv ammo and i've never had an issue with it.

i've never actually seen any of those parts listed anywhere in canada, but for $60 doesn't sound like a bad idea....

rimfiresports dot com, free shipping to canada. :)
hawktecharms dot com, cheapest prices, but have to pay shipping now. :(
hornetproducts dot com, not the greatest selection, very reasonable shipping though.

I wish someone in canada would set up a sight with a similar setup to any of the 3 above. I'd love to buy north of the border, without having to chase parts around. Fabsports has the buffers, and a few stocks, but someone needs to get on the rest of these parts. ;)

Bitsofpieces out of Vancouver has plenty of 10/22 parts.

VQ hammer, VQ extractor, VQ auto bolt release, bolt buffer and as many Tac-Inc mags as you can find and you're off to a good start. Work your way up from there.

Ya, but it would be nice if they had an easy to navigate website, so I could just order parts in the middle of the night, when I feel like I need them. :D Just placed an order from Hornet, no hassle, and no phones....

what do these bolt buffers do? i see they arent that expensive either?

my to do list right now is:
hammer
polish the trigger assembly
auto bolt release
extractor

probly a new stock soon, but i wont be getting a bull barrel for a while, should i just wait to get them at the same time?

They make them much quieter. The one mod that you should do if you can, is to radius the bolt. Makes for a slicker cycle and allows the gun to cycle low velocity rounds easier.

There's a few members here that sell them, one member even makes them. I hear they're very good, just don't recall his name?

VQ extractor is a pretty decent change as well, as well as an auto bolt release

Both great upgrades, esp. if reliable function - as oppose to accuracy - is your foremost concern!.....;)

The extractor is key if you don't want your 10/22 to be a slave to only select, "preferred" ammunition types/brands...:p

And the factory bolt release, well, until your realize that tapping the top part "just so" is the key to easier use, it can be a real annoyance....

In terms of the trigger, IMHO, the factory arrangement on a 10/22 is miles beyond that of the Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22........
