 last night had my first Squib sounded like a WET FART:p was lucky the bullet mad it all the way out .But what a wierd sound and feeling when it went off

What Cal. and type of firearm ? Never had one yet and I guess a squib would be better than a double charge . A wake-up call just the same that things can be overlooked and you can never be too careful .

I had a squib in 45 acp bullet lodged about 1/2 way down the barrel. Real wierd feeling and had to waste shooting time pushing the lead out of the barrel. Only one so far, I didn't think a primer would shove the lead that far:eek: .

I'm surprised it cleared the barrel JB but good just the same as i'm sure it's a PITA to clear one thats jammed !! I had a primer let go when doing reloads last year....that sure woke me up !

Ive had two, and they really make you relaize that you may not be as perfect as you thought, especially if you reloaded the rounds.

I handload all of my fifle bullets, and I pay particularly close attention to my hunting loads. I usually load up 10 or so premium .30-06 bullets for deer/moose, and they have always found their mark. This fall however, before hunting season, I was firing off last year's rounds to make sure all was still aligned in that particualt rifle, when one of the 9 rounds I had left, just made a pffffft and that was it. Turns out I forgot to charge the case with powder! It just makes you relize that you need to be very attentive while reloading, as mistakes can and will happen.

The other squib was on a trap line during a turkey shoot. I was shooting some old reloads I had been given, and I was half way through the shoot when I loaded up, yelled pull, and then nothing, except for the pfffft. The wad got stuck in the choke, and I couldnot for the life of me get it out. I had to forfeit the round since we were in competition It was embarassing to say the least.

atfer you get one it sure slows your finger down on the second shot your waiting to hear what sound it make befor you pull the triger again

sooner or later it's going to happen, especially if you use a progressive- all i did was get a section of welders rod( although you can use a cleaning rod) around the right size, put one wrap of electrical tape around it so it won't harm the bore, cut to length plus a couple of inches and carry some sort of hammer- the lyman brass tapper works fine but expensive- thow that in your kit somewhere and it's good to go-11/32(.343) for the 9mm/357 crowd and 13/32( 041) for the 45/45 crowd- close to bore size, but not too tight-you have to allow some for the tape wrap- it's just a tad tight in the 9mm but not tight enough to disrupt the tape- it happens far more frequently with black powder -the charge fails to ignite and the cap pushes it about halfway down the tube in 9mm the primer will push it about halfway down, the 45 just a couple of inches if the local welding shop doesn't have a copuple of stubs for free, they're about 3 bucks for a yard a cdn tire
