Got my Norinco CQ5.56 this morning and.....

I was looking at the schematics for it and I was wondering what the gas tube was for, at first I thought that gases passed through it to aid in cycling the bolt, but after looking some more I notice there's a plug and the end of the tube at the front end where it goes in the front sight assembly. Now I'm confused. Can anyone clarify the use of the gas tube.

there isn't a plug it doesn't aid in cycling the bolt it is the means to which the weapon cycles. It is a direct impingement gas system bullet and gas go down the Barrel gas goes through the gas block into the gas tube back to the bolt.
