Well I got the card in the mail two weeks ago finally went and got my hunting number and my Hunting license. So now I just need my gun and some tags for when the season opens.

What do you think I should go for first. Bambi, Bugs Bunny or Daffy Duck? Personally I'm thinking Bambi and Bugs Bunny as starting game (deer pepperoni and Rabbit Pot Pie). I have no idea what hunting is like so I'd like some advice on whats the best game to start with. I'm in the market for a hunting buddy who's willing to pass on their wisdom to this young Padiwan before I unknowingly develop bad hunting habits. Who one day hopes to get a Moose. I should mention I believe in taking out what you bring in when it comes to everything but UTP. I already have a love for the outdoors and treat it with respect.

If I was you I would get your two deer tags one white one mule and a bear. What are you going to use for a rifle? I hope not a sharp stick;) I see you are in Kamloops do you not have any hunting friends over there? I am in the Vernon area. Were were you thinking of going to hunt?:sniper:

I know a few people here that hunt around here but it's always best to have more then one or two hunting buddies as they can't always go when you are. As for location I know a lots of nice places you can hunt for deer where it shouldn't be hard to find a few nice bucks, same with bears I've seen a few beasts that have beautiful fur but I wouldn't hunt him I like seeing that bear when I'm in that area. As for rifle either a 30-30 or a .44 Rem Mag both in lever action to start off with. Hopefully both ;) As for the tags thats what I was thinking cover both breeds of deer in the area and a bear. I've been told no matter what your hunting get a bear tag even if you never take a bear it's a good insurance for worst case encounters cause your safe to shoot it if you must or if you find a specimen you just don't/can't pass up.

I know what you mean about like seeing the bears and the same could be sead about deer. Do you know why ranchers shoot bears on site? they kill there cattle just 2 weeks ago I stop a large bear from doing just that in the area we found caf remains from this bear. Remember it is not a teddy bear. Just this year since hibernation ended we have had several black bear attacks. Just something to think on.

on another not have you thought about goat or sheep hunting. quite the art to learn as well.

If you would like drop me a note when you are comeing out this way and we can get together and see what we can work out to do a hunt in the fall together.

Tried sheep not a big fan but then again when I tried it I didn't like wild game meat that was 6 years ago. Never tried goat hunting but I'm willing to try most things at least once, but I will for sure drop you a note when I'm down in Vernon. Do the same when your coming up here.
