Got my Ruger 10/22 take down

Big k

Regular
Received my first online firearm purchase ever. I just wanted to say thank you. The 10/22 takedown arrived today in perfect condition. Ordered last friday recieved this friday. I would say thats excellent service i would definitely buy from you guys again.

I can't wait to take my kids out shooting tomorrow.

Just my personal experience is that my takedown was a bit fussy with ammo. I first tried federal bulk and it would not cycle properly. I had alot of FTEs which was due to not enough gas to recoil. I've gone to CCI mini mags and stingers and it really loves it. To be fair, I have not tried a new lot of federal ammo to see if it was a bad batch as I was really bummed about the quality.

I suggest getting a sampling of brands and velocities and go from there.

Cheers!!!

Mine should get here on Monday along with my S-2000 9mm, and for my takedown, i will feed it a diet of Stingers from the start, i am sure it will be satisfactory with it... JP.

I got a Sparc Vortex waiting in it's box sitting on my desk for my takedown... JP.

Mine should be back from the warrenty place this week with its new barrel. Overall, even with the crooked sights(didnt care) and the peening(thats a problem) it cycled everything well, even std vel ammo. I shot about 300 rounds of 555s first and it smoothed out nicely. I also put a vq trigger kit and extractor in it from the start. The bag is great too. Overall a well desingned package and the warrenty was easy to deal with. Ive been on a 1022 kick lately too and this model is a must have.

I too have put about 300 rds down the tube. Any bullet with a speed of 1280 or higher worked great. Anything slower would not disengage from the mag due to low recoil. All in all its a great package especially with tru glo sights. Would like to find Ruger made 25 rd mags though or even better the HC3R mags.

I've had the best luck with the 10 round ruger mags and the 25 round butler creek steel lipped mags. I have been using a burris 2-7 compact on it and it still fits in the bag. I have a spare set of techsights also that may find their way onto it.

Disappointing. One of the things I love about my 10/22 is that it will chew up just about any ammo I put through it. Thanks for the info !

You won't find any Ruger Bx25 mags in Canada.. They aren't legal, and never will be. Oh the joys of politics : (
Hit up Wanstalls, rumour has it they are bringing in some REALLY nice 10/22 mags in the near future.

Unfortunately when ruger packaged the magazines, they marketed them for both rifles and handguns. Being that only 10 round pistol mags are allowed in Canada. They were denied import. Even if ruger repackaged the mags for rifle only ( which they likely wouldn't ) the cats already out of the bag. Its silly, I know.

Hey all, first post on here, (outside of the mandatory hello my name is ... :) ) i just got my 10/22 takedown yesterday, not from wanstalls, but i did pick up a Maverick 88 from them on wednesday Must say, the guys there were great, SUPER BUSY in there! i guess thats good news for the sport.

Im really happy with my takedown, no bent sights ( i checked b4 i left the shop i got it from.... Kent outdoors in agassiz) .... no feeding problems, im using blazer ammo in it, probably about 50 rds through it today, looking forward to the Butler Creek 25 rd mag.... reloading is boring :p. anyways guys, enjoy your takedowns..... if you can find one :( .. have a good night.

cheers

Shooting 10/22 with those BX25 is so much fun.

I took the take down to the range today. Put about 100 rounds through it (assorted brands). It seams to cycle everything well. It is very accurate. I don't really like the factory mag. I will definitely buy another type of mag when it's available. I also found it a bit awkward to release the slide forward after reloading. Is there a trick to it?

It took me a bit to get used to it too. The trick is not to hold the release button. Instead pull back on the charging handle, press and release the button and then release the handle. (I think that's it :) )

For failure to feed issues, have a look at the bolt underside as the magazine sees it. The takedown I got from Wanstals a while ago had a small casting flashing protruding downward toward the mag. It would repeatedly fail to properly cycle, regardless of ammo. Removed the piece of flashing, no biggie, it works perfectly now.

If you're handy with a Dremel and aren't afraid to take apart your trigger assembly, you can do the Auto Bolt Release Mod as shown in this thread... Best mod I've ever done to my 10/22 hands down!
