GOT MY WG 1885 very nice Guns (Pics)

Well turns out a postal chimp didnt steel my Webley WG but they did send it back to Customs for no reason so it sat there for over a month makeing me go thru security to finaly find it.
The Head postal security guy was geat tho. Rewraped it in Brown paper covering all the Tax forms ect so i payed nothing to pic it up (For once LOL)
These are very nice guns this ones a 1885 and has basicaly a Kaufman action really nice trigger.
Anyone else shoot one of these ?
Im gona thin the rims on 45 long colts as this gun will chamber a 45 long colt ( Only if the forward side of the case rim is thinned to 455 case rim thickness tho )
Still waiting for my trail boss gun powder to get here tho

LOL ya guess i was a little hard on the postal people but there was NO reason to send it back to Customs.
The head inspector was pissed off about the whole thing. It was addressed right only thing was there was and Envlope on the outside that had Canada Customs please open on it.
Well the fact that envlope was open and the box was covered in Customs tape didnt click with whoever sent it back to customs which is why the inspector is pissed off.

Anyway im glad its finaly here unharmed Tax free to

Hi, I'm trying to research this right now and you may be able to help. I've got a .455 too and I've heard,(but don't remember where) that .45 scofield brass has a thinner rim. If so, it may chamber in a .455 webley. Have you heard anything about that? I know that a couple of companies in the STates make the .45 scofield brass a lot cheaper than you can get .455 brass. Thanks in advance for any insight.

45 scofeild brass has a THICKER rim than 455 and the front side must be thinned to 455 Rim thickness to use in MOST 455 British revolvers.

45 scofeilds the same thickness as 45 colt but 45 scofeild rims are a tiny bit wider than 45 colts.

My RIC is diffrent and has enough Cylinder to frame gap the 45 Scofeilds as well as 455 can be shot outa it.

I buy Starline Solid head brass 45 scofeilds from Track the wolf for 17 cents each, And trim the forward side of the Rims to 455 thickness on my mini lathe.
Then they work in my Wilkinson and Webley no 4 Pryse as well as Webley MKIs and up.

Oh by the way, you are right on the larger diameter rims of .45 Schofield. I believe on the early colts that the rims were large enough that instead of a six shooter, you wound up with a three shooter.

Another reason that you see the early winchesters in 44-40 but not .45 colt as the rounds at that time didn't have enough rim for the winchester extractor to grab them reliably.
