My 1893 in 38-55 was getting lonely, so I needed to find it some company.

Another model 1893 - 32-40 caliber, 26" octagon barrel, factory tapped receiver for a Hepburn receiver sight, bore is very good with no pitting. Serial number dates it to 1905.

And here it is in its natural habitat. :D

That's a very nice looking rifle. I can see why my ol' man was always partial to the Marlins. Is that the 38-55 below it with the half mag? Very nice looking gun. Do you prefer the Marlins to the Winchesters?
Curious: what caliber is your Winchester lever (4th gun from the bottom)? I just started collecting Wins, and have a very meagre collection.

Yup, that's the 38-55 right below it (first year production - made in 1893). And the Winchester below that is a 38-55 too (26`inch round barrel, half mag, made in 1906). The prices of old Winchesters has gotten nuts lately, and IMO the Marlins of that era were better built. That`s why I think I`ll stick with Marlins when I`m looking for an older lever (although I wouldn`t pass on a Winnie for the right price :D )
