This is from the current batch on offer from Numrich in the US... $60US for the forestock and $22 for the rear handguard, both walnut. These were the last two pieces of wood I needed to get started on the No1 Mk III "de-sporterising" I'm working on. Won't see the end of that project likely until the spring, but seeing as these are in stock at Numrich right now, I thought I'd pass it along.

For the price, I was expecting salvaged wood from otherwise wrecked Enfields. What I received instead is what appears to be "New Old Stock" from gawd knows where they got it from. The forestock has all the acceptance stamps on it, but doesn't look like it even received the final fitting or BLO treatment. Way better than what I was expecting, and at quite a good price.

Any of the Enfield experts want to pipe in and correct me of any false assumptions, feel free. Apologies for the crappy pics, back to snapping shots with my cel phone, my wife wasn't available to be roped in to use her actual camera skillz.

Are they shipping to Canada?

Yup... The usual "bend over and take it" s&h fees from Numrich ($45, IIRC), but a buddy was also looking to get some parts, so we pooled and split the cost of the S&H.

Numrich is very consistent about shipping anything that's legal to Canada. They have a couple people on staff who's sole job is to know the ins and outs of ITAR and what can and cannot be shipped to what countries.

that is indeed good looking wood that project has been on the back burner since I was in SK as all I could get from numrich was the Pakastani hardwood which was a poor fit at best. Great to see they have the real stuff again. And it will be even better still to see you get that SMLE back up and running. Not a lot of C/l\ SMLEs floating around.

I wish there was even a snowball's chance in he11 I could get it done before coming up, but I'm realistic about the odds of that (specifically: none)... I'm not sure I have all the metal fiddly bits yet, but I'm way less concerned about that than tracking down the wood. Someone must have cracked open an old warehouse, because all summer there was nothing, anywhere, at any price. Now it's available at Numrich, Liberty Tree, on the EE, and all in NOS condition.

I'm tempted to buy and horde, but I think I'll just work up the one I have and leave it at that.

A note of caution on those Numrich forends- they will need quite a bit of hand fitting. It's not a drop in fit by any means. I had to do a lot to get mine to fit, especially in the draws area.

Yup, pretty much the case with "New Old Stock" - the forends were sent out as blanks to be fitted at time of final assembly when they were originally made back in the day. There was enough variation in production of the rifled actions that each stock set tended to need to be fitted, regardless.
