Finally got my PAL to show all my friends how dumb I can look on an official government piece of ID. Now I am searching for my rifle that was available, and now is out of stock.

Gentlemen, is there any other store in Canada that may be carrying a NEW Springfield Armory M1A model 9106 (Black Fiberglass Stock) in its inventory?

I had one lined up at Wolverine, but (in waiting for my PAL) it seem Le GOOVernment DU Cana-duh doesn't work by my schedule; it is no longer in stock. They are saying it may take a few months, or more to get a new one from their importer.

I had tried Shooting Edge and the gun Store in Edmonton without any luck. Is there some place down east that may have a new one in stock?

I was kinda hoping to get my first shots in without a parka and 3 layers of gloves to mess up the experience. Thanks.

Rule # 1...you only need a licence to walk out of the store with a gun, not to buy one!

Rule # 2... check the buy sell area of modern military rifles, you might find a highly done up Chinese M-14 (M305) that will be far more accurate than the M1A.

Also...be careful calling it a "weapon" as per your title. Some people get knickers in a knot about that. Good luck on your search for a new gun.

LOL! You are right though. I remenber the guy I took my courses with getting pissed at one of the guys taking the course for using the term "weapon" when refering to a firearm.

I can still see him: "A knife is a weapon, a beer bottle is a weapon, a bat is a weapon, a chair is a weapon....THIS IS A FIREARM!

There must be a bunch of girls on this site. A gun is a weapon, unless you use it to clean your teeth, then it would be a tooth brush.

Call it what ever you want: firearm, weapon, bullet thrower, or money waster. Nobody cares.

I was just looking for locations to acquire, not trying to run into the PC police. Didn't think they would actually be on THIS site.

The PC police are everywhere:)

I suspect, while it may partially be a matter of the "PC police being everywhere" the caution given is justified in our day and time. I don't think the problem is that we are "girls" (I suppose I can only speak for myself - last time I checked I definitely was not a girl and had no plans to swing that way) but rather those who would see access to firearms restricted will use terms like "weapon" in the course of emotionally appealing arguments (whether the argument is implicit or explicit). For this reason, I believe, many recognize the value of prudent speech and judicious employment of terminology as it pertains to firearms and the shooting culture.
It sounds much worse, to put a fine point on it, if were to report that a group of men carrying high caliber weapons and wearing tactical gear was spotted in the forest east of here than if I were to report that a party of hunters (no doubt wearing the appropriate camo for the season) was spotted in the same location.
In short, I think northwoodslivin is entirely correct.

Actually, many of us care. It's not a weapon until it's used as such. Weapon is something the media uses to demonize us, and most of us had have enough of that.

As for this:

–verb (used with object) 4. to supply or equip with a weapon or weapons: to weapon aircraft with heat-seeking missiles.

What dictionary did that come from? I've always used "arm".
I've never heard anyone say "the aircraft was weaponed with heat seeking missiles".
