I don't know about you. But I take great pride in hunting and being able to own a firearm.

And I was only suggesting to a newbie like yourself that you dont need to call them a weapon, they are a tool in our sport.

I've got numerous "weapons" in my safe. As do most of us.

Would calling them muffins help with the PC issue?

Ummm....sorry, but soldiers use weapons, civvies (at least here in Canada ) use firearms. We shoot animals and paper.

If you A: Are planning to use them offensively against people and
B: Are not serving,
Then you deserve to have a "public safety concern" raised pertaining to your ownership of said firearms maybe?

No, I am not a "fudd". My AR's are used for punching paper, as are my subguns and pistols....and are therefore firearms.

You dont need a PAL to get a weapon, a knife, a rock, fists, a car, hammer on and on it is anything that--- with intent to do harm, and yes a gun in the wrong hands is a weapon.

I have a PAL, so I can legaly own a gun/firearm
