Got three into my Baby Grizz.

Truth be told, the best way to get more rounds in, is just buy the mag fed version when it comes.

for 'home defense' i have higher capacity shotguns :)
i chose the 8.5" Grizzly because its as compact as a fully functional shotgun is going to get, so it should be great for lugging along in the bush and can even slide inside a pack or duffel.

if youre packing a gun along in the bush for wildlife defense, remember that theres a good chance that at some point youll be stopped by a CO. from most accounts ive read those COs will go by the assumption that you are hunting and it will be up to you to convince them otherwise (and hope you get one thats reasonable). personally, ONE extra round isnt worth that potential hassle for me. its pretty sad, but these days im more afraid of overzealous enforcement than i am of an animal attack, TBH.
 
As long as you aren't hunting migratory birds in B.C. there is no limit to the number of shells in your shotgun.....I'm pretty sure if I'm out hiking with a short Grizz shotgun with slugs, that I would not have a hard time explaining to a CO that I am not hunting ducks.

Somehow the gun does not scream migratory birds to me....:D

And when I said defensive above I was referring to animal defense.
 
i dont see why not, if you want to spend the money.
theres plenty of barrel thickness for one.

but wouldnt adding a +1 extension and an extended choke tube defeat the entire point of buying an 8.5" shotgun? save yourself over $300 and just buy yourself a 12.5" Grizzly :D
($100 cost difference between 8.5 and 12.5, tapping the barrel for chokes, buying extended choke, buying +1 extension = >$300)
 
Finally took it to the pit.Man what a hot little machine.Not a burp or fart in feeding or firing.After 58 shots had a look at the mag spring and all is great.Mag cap stayed tight,no mag feeding issues.Worked great with three in the Baby Grizz.Thanks Canada Ammo.
 
Update on my three round exercise. Finally took Mr Dremel to the two dimples in the mag tube.They are now gone.Tube cleaned up real nice.So I took a uncut follower from my 12.5 Dominion and put it in the tube with the 8.5 spring and my 870 mag cap,low and behold it still takes three round with some springyness left in the spring. So I guess that settles it for me.No black plastic thingy to help hold the cap in place.It never came loose today after 50 some odd rounds.

Then I took the one shot tube extender of my other 870 and tried one more shell but no go.I guess I can safely say that three is gonna be it for me. FYI
 
They do look cute.Baby shotgun shells for the Baby Grizz. You know what else would have work nice was the 2 1/2 inch shells that Chemist or Frontier had (can't remember which place for sure) Manbearpig if your happy with just two shots in your Baby Grizz why it, over the Outlaw? Could have saved 100 bucks.

id have bought an Outlaw if it didnt have the issues that people were complaining about. no big deal for a 'fun' gun, but i wanted something 100% reliable. some Fudds will read this and roll their eyes since its a Chinese clone, but i believe the Grizzly is as reliable as my 870Ps and Wingmasters - if somewhat less pretty. i owned the 12.5" version and was quite happy with it. theyre also compatible with 870 bits, so if i didnt like the stock, i can change it. if i dont like the stock on the Outlaw im pretty much $^#%ed unless i want to take up woodcarving :D
2+1 in a pump is not as much of a limitation as a SxS. with a pump you can top off the mag and single feed from a sidesaddle (or other shell carrier) quite quickly with practice.

if a bear eats me because i only had 2+1, well... so be it. like i said im more afraid of overzealous COs than bears :dancingbanana:

Don't have any and camera on the fritz sorry. The mag dimple removal is pretty standard with the Rem 870 express if you want to add mag extension.Just Google it and you should get a few hits. Then just remove the black plastic mag cap retainer and your good to go. Very simple.At least mine was.If you use the dremel method just remove enough that the follower slide freely down the mag tube.

I think I can picture this now. If I can ever clean the crap off my work bench I'll get my 8.5" stripped down and cleaned up. Thanks again.
 
I thought I was the only one with the crap covered work bench.Maybe we should post pictures and have people guess whats on them?
