Swede, most of the reload books LIE! My CG 96 with 29" pushes 130 grn pills to low to mid 2800 range with out pressure or problems with accuracy, they'll spit a bit faster but accuracy suffers. not BR accuracy but well within hunting terms for a 100 year old rifle. Modern barrel and a single shot gives you alot of action strength to play with if your a velocity hog, or just find what shoots good every time and click an extra couple on the dial. either way, if i had only one rifle to bench out to 1000 it would be a swede

To the original question, long range cartridge that may reach to 1000M one day. I would go with the Swede 6.5X55 or 260 Rem, you don't need to go to the ackley versions.

I like a little more powder capacity than the Swede offers. Maybe look at 6.5x57.

And I think you should have another look at the 6.5-.284, there's a reason it wins.
