Just got it yesterday! Bought it from Tradex, so I knew what I was getting.
The butt stock is cracked right thru, just over the trigger, right hand side. Not a chip but a crack.
What method can I use to degrease it for an epoxy fix, and build up/strengthen that area?

I had a similar one i got in a trade from a person at a show.

I used Xylene to clean it out before I epoxy filled it. if you do not have access to industrial solvents. Try Alcohol first to clean out. Epoxy fill is the best way to fix the crack.

Give it several treatments using a mild solution of TSP and water. No problem with organic solvent fumes, so you can do it in the house during this cold weather.

Not too hard to figure out how to get it into the crack using a syringe. Let it soak for a few minutes, rinse out with plenty of hot water from the syring, repeat.

Keep in a warm place for several days to be sure it is completely dry.

Carefully wax the stock around the repair, making sure not to get any wax in the crack itself. You can get the epoxy to flow well into crack by using a hair dryer to heat both it and the stock.

Allow to cure overnight. Excess cured epoxy will slip easily off waxed area when completed.

Scalding hot water followed by engine degreaser. The water will float off surface dirt and soften the oils. The degreaser will wash off the gunk. Repeat if you aren't happy with the first effort.
