Went south last weekend to hunt ducks and geese with my buddy, and took my son along for his first goose shoot - turns out the kid can call and shoot like he's been doing it for 20 years!
The shooting part did not surprise me, but the calling sure did!
he calls like a pro, I think a lot of has to do with the fact that he played sax and trombone in high school. I told him to play the calls like an instrument instead of blowing them like a duck call- a few quick lessons from Jason at Canadian Waterfowlers pro shop never hurt, either!:D
First day out - My son insists that 12 gauge pump guns belong in a blind, but I'm stickin' with my 20 guage O/U- notice the one teal that lost it's head? That one came in fast and crossed my blind at 10 feet as I popped up!:D

He's late getting in, he's 19 at the moment - been into shooting comps for years however.
So far, he's been on a pheasant hunt, a deer hunt and almost got a spike muley last Saturday evening g with his long bow!
Heres a pic of the pheasant hunt- he was using a set of 28 gauge tubes in his Gamba skeet gun - killed well with it , too!

Yup, that's what I say.
I wasn't sure if he would ever want to hunt , and was not going to push him in a direction he did not want to go - it's amazing the amount of influence a girlfriend who was raised on moose, deer , and elk can have on a guy!:D

That is what so got me into hunting too, my father never pushed it on me and grew up trapshooting since I was 8, only started hunting at 20. I met a farm girl raised on venison, ducks and geese. She didnt hunt but put the idea in my head that I should put my shooting to good use. And I wanted to find a way to bond with my father after a rough youth.

All in all... I wish I started hunting when I was 8!
My daughter will be going on her first hunts and scouting trips next fall just before she turns 3!

I'm 26 and have about 4 hunting hunting buddies around my age
we all just got into it about a year ago (except one he's been doing it for years)

Surprisingly high number of younger people taking up firearms and hunting

Thanks for posting the pics, always nice to see a successful hunt.

Is that a Brittany in the 3rd pick? How was it hunting with one?
