Recent polls have shown support for the Trudeau governments attacks on handgun and sporting rifles, from other shooting groups.

I am first a shotgun shooter. I shoot all clay sports and shoot upland with my dogs. I train bird dogs year round and that is my passion.
I could live without my other guns but losing my over and under would ruin my life.

I also shoot handgun sports, bullseye, IPSC, IDPA, precision rifle, hunting rifle etc.

If the Trudeau governments attack on these sports is successful, and illegal gangs, criminals and folks in need of mental support, cannot access these "dangerous weapons", what options are open to them?

The answer is, the legal "non threatening" double barrelled shotguns, .22 single shot plinkers etc. They are accessible, can be modified and can kill just as any gun can.

These guns have been used in the past and are in use in other counties with tight restrictions, by people who should not have them. Criminals and the disturbed will find a way.

Owners of legal, non restricted firearms, shotgunners and hunters, please consider this. Your lack of support for the present gun community under attack, could result in you becoming the group next under attack.

Please, please, please, do whatever you can to support the shooting community, even if you have a small stake in it. We gun owners are not a huge number and we do give the general public a warm fuzzy feeling.
We need to stick together as a political voice and not rest in the "I am all right Jack" way of thinking.

I am making this post as I can envision the day, in the not so distant future, where shooting a round of skeet or trap is illegal and hunting is a thing of the past.

What makes you think that criminals will have a reduced access to illegal firearms because of these bans? If you believe that to be the case, then you are buying into the narrative that criminals obtain their firearms from law abiding gun owners.

These bans will not have a impact on illegal firearms. The two are not related. These bans will do nothing but disarm law abiding citizens leaving only the criminals with guns…..guns that will never be in short supply as long as there is no substantial and continuous investment stopping the importation of illegal guns from the US as well as increased sentencing for gun related crimes. If our government is not interested in investing resources and developing a justice system that actually cares about seriously criminalizing gun crimes….there will always be a gun crime problem in our country

People should find this interesting, up until 2014 violent crimes involving firearms was on the decline, then in 2015, they suddenly started to trend upward. Coincidentally, Trudeau took office in 2015.

Funny thing or interested is that in the US for example, all the states and cities and other places with strict gun laws, places such as Chicago, New York etc. have more gun crimes than the places with not so tough gun restrictions.

Criminals do not care about laws and restrictions, that is why they are criminals to begin with.

Criminals or gangs with illegal firearms keep law abiding Canadians in check.
Disarmed law abiding Canadians is even easier.
If the government (liberals') stopped all criminals or gangs with or without firearms...we would need them a lot less.

I really do appreciate your realization of what’s at hand for folks in your position, you’re definitely next and welcome to the fight. However, gangs in Toronto are not using over unders or single shot 22lr plinkers. Nor were they using arms legally purchased in Canada.

The misinformation here is exactly what the govt and their media puppets want the public to think. The fact of the matter is they are getting firearms (mainly handguns) from the US, mostly coming through Indian reservations.

Canadian firearm owners have never been a problem or safety concern to the public. The so called firearm owners supporting the handgun and semi auto ban have no justification whatsoever. The fact is, the Canadians who enjoy shooting sports like 3gun, ipsc, etc have to meet far more requirements for ownership than the folks with their high dollar over under or bolt gun who turn their noses up at the younger generation, I blame them for us being here now, they stood by and scoffed instead of being the stewards they had the responsibility to be for the next generation behind them. you are absolutely right, you’ll be next and your peer group will be shocked that there’s no one left to fight big brother from banning their 3030 or .308 bolt gun. What the gun-grabber understands is that if it is legitimate to ban one firearm it is legitimate to ban them all.

Laws and bans restrict law abiding citizens only. Criminals and gangs will always have access to illegally smuggled firearms. In fact, people need to start realizing that vast majority of crimes are committed with illegally smuggled firearms. The reason most people support these bans is because the government lied and said that 1) legal owners buy firearms and sell to criminals and 2) legal owners are having their firearms stolen by criminals. People in general think that less guns equals less crime or violence. The only way to absolutely reduce crimes with guns is to wave some magical wand and erase every firearm out of existence (legal owners, criminals, LE, military etc). Only then will firearm use in crimes be reduced. But then you have an uptick in stabbings temporarily while criminals continue printing and making their own guns.

the owners of shotguns and rifle huntings are starting to discover what others have been saying for decades ... the end of the lgr did not stop the attacks ...

i can tell you that many black rifles and or handgun owners are feeling less lonely ...
