Government vs. Commander

If both guns were in good condition and shot from a machine rest, I believe accuracy would be equel. Accuracy is not subject to barrel length. How well an individual shooter can do with the shorter barrel is the question, and most shooters do better as the site radius increases.

I am the weird exception to this rule. For some reason I shoot better with the Commander length.

I have no explanation.

My research indicates that if you are starting out the longer the barel the better more accurate your shooting is. As you become more familiar with hand guns reduce the barel size. As for which one is more accurate the Governement or commander model I would say neglecting the barrel length they are the same gun and as Boomer pointed out "most shooters do better as the site radius increases".

My personal experience shows that I am blind and need a scope an anything to shoot accurately....:)

To me, things like the sights have more of an impact on how well I shoot a gun, rather than the sight radius. Crappy sights on a Gov't frame = bad times. Great sights on my Kimber Tactical Pro (106mm bbl) = good times :D
Same can be said for a good trigger, and the ergonomics of the grip - better ergonomics and a better trigger result in better groups, regardless of bbl length.
Shooting my Kimber Pro vs my Kimber gov't length, it is hard to tell a difference in terms of accuracy, with the major different between two being the sights (Novak-type on the Pro, Bomar-type on the s/s target).
